Mountain Peaks Therapy Llamas offers DoveLewis-certified Therapy Llama Teams that currently service the Portland, OR and Vancouver, WA area with visitations to senior communities, hospitals, rehab facilities, and schools, and are also available for private and corporate PR events.
Our certified therapy llamas, "Rojo" and "Smokey", and "Beni" (our new little therapy-llama-in-training) have a special gift of bringing a sense of wonder and joy wherever they go. Their regal appearance, soft fiber, peaceful nature, and interactive playfulness always brings a smile, and warms the heart.
We have been invited to share our llamas inside Doernbecher Hospital and Providence Center for Medically Fragile Children- it was wonderful to see those precious faces light up when Rojo entered their rooms!
As"therapy animals", our llamas help encourage those we visit to do things they wouldn't normally do. For seniors, that may include talking, standing, sitting up, reaching out, going for walks,
and socializing.
Smokey just loves our monthly visits to our friends at Orchards Village!

Beni's first therapy visit to Serendipity Center- December 2009
Our llamas are always the hit of the party! We have been allowed inside the Portland Art Museum, World Forestry Center, The Governour Hotel, Vancouver Hilton, and other event locations for fundraising and private events.
Also, visit our website "Photo Album" to see more of many fun events and places we have visited with Rojo and Smokey. We usually decorate our llamas whenever we take them out- they have quite a wardrobe!
We are in the process of redoing our website- as you scroll down, you can view our original "Home Page", which only featured Rojo. Now that Smokey is also certified, and Beni is beginning to get some "on-the-job training" we will be revising our site to showcase all of our therapy llamas, as well as our new farm name: Mountain Peaks (Therapy) Llamas.
Welcome to Rojo the Llama's Official Website!
*****Rojo won "2nd Runner-up" in the 2009 WEtv "Picture Perfect Pet" Contest!!!*****
Rojo is NOT your ordinary llama!
Why is *Rojo so Unique?
From his youngest days, Rojo has always loved people!
Most llamas are born with a timid, "stand-offish", attitude toward people. Not Rojo! His trusting nature was shown within the first months of birth, as he would follow his owner around the pasture while she did farm chores, allowing numerous hugs throughout the day. While most llamas might kick or at least jump around when their belly, hind legs, and tail are touched, Rojo is incredibly patient whenever he needs to have his toenails trimmed, temperature taken, or pack put on. We never have to worry about him kicking, biting, or spitting on people when we take him places, as he loves all the attention he gets everywhere he goes!
Besides his winning personality, Rojo is absolutely fabulous to look at, and to touch! He has been blessed with luxuriously long, silky, red fiber over most of his body, that begs to be petted- and those fortunate to have this experience fall in love at first touch (which usually leads to a big hug around his woolly neck!).
For these reasons, Rojo is the "total package" when it comes to Animal-Assisted Therapy work, and can be trusted around children, those with various disabilities, and the elderly.
(Rojo is DoveLewis certified, and registered with the national Delta Society)
(*Rojo's name is pronounced "Roho" , which is the Spanish word for "red")
