Smokey's Story

" Smokey" was born on October 8th, 2002 at Hidden Oaks Llama Ranch in Estacada, Oregon ("HOLR Gunsmoke" is his registered name). Shortly after he was born, his then owner, Sherri Tallmon, noticed that he was very teachable, and touchable, and began using Smokey for competitive llama shows, where he performed very well right from the start! Over the years, Sherri enjoyed sharing Smokey with the public for parades, school field trips, and did many local nursing home visits. Smokey was even featured in a televised news story which can still be viewed at the Hidden Oaks Llama Ranch website : http://www.hiddenoaksllamaranch.com/information/

(Scroll down to the "Therapy Llama" section, and click on the link to the video to see Smokey in action!)

We feel very priviledged that Sherri allowed us to adopt Smokey to be a part of our therapy program in June of 2009. Since then, Smokey has walked in numerous parades, showed at the Clark County Fair, and became officially certified for therapy through DoveLewis on October 31st (Smokey is also registered with the International Delta Society)! As we are beginning to use Smokey for more therapy visits, and special PR events, he is developing his own fan base that prefer his special look and temperament, so it has been exciting to see the welcome he has received from many places that have only met Rojo. As we do more events with Smokey, we will be adding more photos featuring him to our website.
